SAN JOSE, Calif., April 14, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Edgewater Networks, Inc. a leading provider of security and infrastructure solutions for unified communications, announces a new patent grant by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). U.S. Patent No. 8971193, issued on March 3, 2015, describes a method to determine media paths in a SIP network using information from endpoints and intermediate devices. The patent allows a central call analyzer (or Edgewater Networks EdgeMarc monitoring and management software such as EdgeView) to match call path legs through the full path of two edge devices (such as the EdgeMarc), resulting in a report containing information such as MOS scores, call quality, call type, and SIP details. Without this development, customers would be unable to generate accurate statistics and meaningful data to assess the quality of their session border controllers.
"Identifying and troubleshooting call quality issues is a prevalent concern for customers not using central call analyzers and enterprise session border controllers," said Dave Norman, CEO of Edgewater Networks. "This latest patent grant strengthens the distinct value of our enterprise session border controller (ESBC) and our comprehensive network monitoring platform so that customers are able to quickly identify the root of voice problems, ensuring that they enjoy a high quality VoIP experience."
