May is National Arthritis Awareness Month

MILWAUKEE, May 18, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- May is National Arthritis Awareness Month and Arthritis Introspective (AI) is excited to announce The Arthritis Introspective National Conference in partnership with the Arthritis Foundation will be held May 22-25th in Milwaukee at the Hyatt Regency Downtown. The AI National Conference is the only event of its kind, bringing together young- and middle-aged adults (and their loved ones) living with rheumatic diseases from across the country for a weekend of education, empowerment, and relationship building.

"We're so excited to be bringing this conference to Milwaukee," said Deserae Constantineau, AI Co-founder and Milwaukee native. "Living with arthritis can be not only physically debilitating, but emotionally draining as well. We sometimes isolate ourselves, fearing being 'whiny' or burdensome. These conferences give people living with these diseases and the people who love them, a safe place to vent, to share fears and frustrations but also learn from each other as well as celebrate victories—big and small."

This three-day educational event is filled with both professional and volunteer-led physical and emotional health and wellness sessions, along with many opportunities to socialize and share the challenges and triumphs of living with this oh-so-unpredictable disease. Since 2007, hundreds of people have taken part in this special weekend. There will be many exciting speakers on hand, including Angela Durazo, actress and former professional triathlete who has overcome incredible odds and today lives with her RA by being as proactive and knowledgeable as possible.

Crescendo Bioscience, which offers the advanced blood test Vectra® DA that helps patients and their doctor to better understand their rheumatoid arthritis disease activity with a single score, is the Conference Title Sponsor.

Programming for the weekend will address career development, the Americans with Disabilities Act and workplace rights, acupuncture, complementary holistic therapies, parenting with arthritis, writing toward wellness, Government Advocacy, loved ones/partners tracks and more, concluding with a Memorial Day Milwaukee river tour and luncheon.

Registration: $80. For more information, visit
