BEIJING (Huawei Network Congress), May 20, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- QLogic Corp. (Nasdaq:QLGC), a leading supplier of high performance network infrastructure solutions, today announced it is collaborating with Huawei to demonstrate end-to-end 25Gb Ethernet networking solutions. Huawei servers equipped with QLogic 25Gb Ethernet adapters combine with Huawei 25Gb Ethernet switches to deliver end-to-end 25Gb Ethernet performance for next-generation data centers. QLogic 25Gb Ethernet adapters allow OEM customers such as Huawei to pursue new market opportunities and provide a cost-effective means for organizations to transition to future 100Gb Ethernet solutions that leverage four high-performance 25Gb Ethernet lanes.
Huawei is demonstrating its new 25G Data Center Solution with QLogic 25Gb Ethernet adapters at the Agile Data Center from May 20 through May 21, 2015.
"The Huawei 25G Data Center Solution provides organizations with unprecedented Ethernet bandwidth as well as a cost-effective means for organizations to transition to tomorrow's extremely high performance 100Gb Ethernet networks," said Yu Li, general manager, data center network domain, Huawei. "With industry- leading adapter technology that can deliver 25/40/50/100Gb Ethernet performance, QLogic unleashes the full power of the Huawei 25G Data Center Solution."
"Cloud-based networks are proliferating rapidly and will require considerably more bandwidth and efficiency," said Manoj Gujral, vice president of marketing, Ethernet Products, QLogic. "Our 25Gb Ethernet adapter technology enables network bandwidth to be cost-effectively scaled in support of next-generation server and storage solutions residing in cloud and web-scale data center environments."
Supporting 25/40/50/100Gb port speeds, these QLogic Ethernet adapters are able to address all next-generation server and storage to top-of-rack connectivity requirements in the cloud and hyperscale data center. QLogic 25/40/50/100Gb Ethernet interconnect technologies for the next-generation data center provide the unique ability to deliver a heterogeneous RDMA transport comprising of RoCE, RoCEv2 and iWARP, accelerating cloud and hyperscale workloads without constraints. Both specifications leverage a common 25Gb Ethernet lane signaling scheme, with 25Gb Ethernet utilizing one lane and 100Gb Ethernet utilizing four lanes. 100Gb Ethernet is a released IEEE standard today; 25Gb Ethernet is an emerging standard, initiated via the 25 Gigabit Ethernet Consortium and now an approved project within the IEEE (802.3by). 25Gb Ethernet provides 2.5X the performance of 10Gb Ethernet on a single lane of copper making it a cost-effective upgrade to 10Gb Ethernet infrastructure, while 100Gb Ethernet provides the absolute highest performance for the most demanding applications.
The 2550100 Alliance
QLogic and Huawei are both charter members of the 2550100 Alliance. The 2550100 Alliance was formed to facilitate collaboration in bringing solutions to market. The backbone of the 2550100 Alliance is a set of programs designed to: 1) assist hardware and software vendors with early access to 2550100 networking products, and to work together efficiently to develop solutions; 2) assist channel partners with online and hands-on training, and with early access to 2550100 networking products, so they may guide their customers through the migration and 3) assist IT professionals with education, hands-on training, and early access to 2550100 networking products needed to evaluate and deploy the new technology.
Other charter members of the 2550100 Alliance, include: Amphenol, Cavium, DataCore, Finisar, Hitachi Data Systems, Ixia, Lenovo, SUSE, Telesoft Technologies, X-IO, Zadara and more.
The most advanced networks demand sophisticated capabilities, and for 20 years QLogic has consistently delivered performance, innovation, flexibility, reliability and control for these environments. Breakthrough application performance gives customers faster time-to-data. Innovation delivers new capabilities, greater efficiency and maximum performance. Unprecedented flexibility connects mission-critical applications to any storage network, and robust infrastructure management capabilities put network controls in the hands of customers.
