LONGMONT, Colo., June 15, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Dot Hill Systems Corp. (Nasdaq:HILL), a trusted supplier of innovative enterprise-class storage systems, today announced that Autodesk, Inc., a leader in 3D design, engineering and entertainment software, will add Dot Hill's Ultra56™ 4004 AssuredSAN® array to its extensive portfolio of Dot Hill storage offerings for media & entertainment applications such as video post-production workflows. With the ability to store up to 1.5 petabytes of high-resolution video in a single array, the Ultra56 AssuredSAN 4004 delivers 2.3 times the capacity per rack unit and 42 percent lower cost per terabyte than a standard Dot Hill chassis configuration.
"Our customers are the world's best artists and they use our tools to make amazing films. Today, production teams are dispersed across time zones and need to be able to access information easily and quickly regardless of location, and that includes having reliable storage solutions," said Chris Bradshaw, senior vice president, Media & Entertainment and Reputation, Consumer & Education and CMO.
Unlike arrays offered by competitors, the Ultra56 AssuredSAN 4004 can stream up to 6400 MB/s, or four 4K uncompressed streams of DPX 10bit RGB video content. The Ultra56 AssuredSAN 4004 addresses 10bit 444 RGB uncompressed HD video workflows by supporting multiple edit suites with up to 15 simultaneous streams.
"Dot Hill continues to expand its OEM relationships and build strong momentum in our key vertical markets such as media & entertainment," said Garrett Wein, vice president of worldwide OEM sales, Dot Hill Systems Corp. "The Ultra56 AssuredSAN 4004 with large form factor devices complements the other Dot Hill AssuredSAN 4004 storage systems already being offered by Autodesk, including the Ultra48™ AssuredSAN 4004 high density array with small form factor HDD or SSD devices."
Dot Hill AssuredSAN 4004 storage systems deliver high performance for sequential workloads required in deadline-driven, mission-critical effects and finishing work. AssuredSAN 4004 models can sustain multiple simultaneous streams of HD, UHDTV and even 4K compressed and uncompressed media enabling management of large media sets and complex workflows from acquisition to distribution. Incorporating Dot Hill's high performance AssuredSAN 4004 storage controllers, the patent pending Ultra56 features platinum-rated power supplies, which deliver 94 percent peak efficiency for energy conservation. All devices are hot-swappable and the system is designed with two front removable device drawers for ease of service and maintenance.
