(Nasdaq:IPCM), a leading national acute hospitalist and post-acute provider organization, announced today that it has acquired Extended Care Physicians (ECP), one of the largest private practice post-acute groups in the Carolinas.
Headquartered in Asheville, North Carolina, ECP for many years has provided primary medical care to older adults in over 130 nursing homes, assisted living facilities and retirement communities throughout North and South Carolina.
"ECP's mission of delivering exceptional, personalized, and compassionate healthcare services aligns perfectly with IPC's values," said R. Jeffrey Taylor, president and COO of IPC Healthcare. "This acquisition significantly expands IPC's presence in the Carolinas and offers us the opportunity to enhance the excellent services that the ECP clinicians have provided and will continue to provide to their local communities. It also gives us the capability to explore partnerships with both acute care hospitals and payers in both states."
Taylor added, "Having a strong post-acute clinical capability is increasingly important in today's value-based care environment. IPC is at the forefront of post-acute care delivery, and as such many of the leading private post-acute groups in the country have recently chosen to join forces with us. In addition, IPC's strengths in both acute care hospital medicine and post-acute behavioral health services allow us to provide a unique continuum of services to payers and other organizations that are engaged in improving overall population health management."
The patient encounters for the practice are estimated at approximately 160,000 on a combined annualized basis.
