MIDDLETOWN, R.I., June 16, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Towerstream (Nasdaq:TWER), a Fixed Wireless Fiber Alternative provider, announced that 20 building installations were completed and 25 customers were added to its On-Net fixed wireless offering in May 2015. This record monthly performance increased the number of total building installations to 79 and the number of total customers connections to 103.
An On-Net installation enables Towerstream to provide wireless broadband service to all businesses in a building as compared to the traditional approach of connecting one customer at a time. The Building owner provides access to its central data services room where Towerstream installs Point-to-Point equipment capable of servicing the entire building rather than equipment only sufficient for one customer. As additional customers are secured in a building, the only action required is a cable run from the central data services room to the business' information technology portal.
"Building owners and property managers are embracing our On-Net solution because they recognize that we deliver better service and value than our competitors and offer them the ability to market state-of-the-art broadband services to existing and future tenants," stated Jeffrey Thompson, CEO.
Business tenants have access to 100 megabits per second of dedicated, non-oversubscribed, symmetrical Internet connectivity, backed by a leading SLA (service level agreement), at the industry's lowest price of $699 per month.
"Our fixed wireless network is unique because it was constructed above each of our urban markets rather than a traditional underground fiber network. This enables us to provide high capacity service to a building that is faster, cheaper, and with less disruption to building operations," added Arthur Giftakis, SVP Engineering & Operations.
"Offering reliable, fast and affordable Internet service to our tenants is one of the most important service features in a modern building and allows us to instantly overcome many of the typical challenges other buildings face," said Dereck A Rascon Sr., Chief Engineer at The Wiltern Center. "By being able to offer worry free broadband in a historical high rise property, we are setting a benchmark for other properties to follow, both new and old, which says it all. Not only do we utilize Towerstream's Internet service for our own use, we also have several tenants using the 100Mbps for $699 offering. It is a powerful proposition for us to be partnered with Towerstream."
