Burger King Japan is pushing the burger envelope again with two upcoming new limited-time menu items set to debut July 3, reports the Wall Street Journal.
The chain, which is a subsidiary of Lotteria, will debut the "Aka Samurai Chicken" sandwich and "Aka Samurai Beef" burger, red spins on the usual dishes complete with red buns, red cheese and red hot sauce. To get the red bun color, the chain added tomato powder to the buns and cheese.
Burger King is no stranger to offbeat looking sandwiches. Last year, it launched a black burger with a black bun. This year's version will include come with fried eggplant in addition to the black buns, cheese and sauce.
