Church of Scientology Volunteer Ministers Show the Way to Happiness, Help East Tampa Have a ‘Safe Summer’

EAST TAMPA, Fla., June 25, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- For the fourth year in a row, The Way to Happiness Foundation had a prominent presence at the annual East Tampa Safe Summer event at Al Barnes Park in East Tampa. As designated sponsors of the event, Tampa residents and Church of Scientology Volunteer Ministers Joyce and Marlin Anderson distributed 100 complimentary copies of this non-religious moral code, based on common sense.

In addition to providing information about The Way to Happiness, the Andersons conducted a raffle that got the participants thinking about how The Way to Happiness could impact their own lives. Winners were announced on the hour. The prizes? - beach towels to add to attendees’ summer fun.

“In The Way to Happiness, L. Ron Hubbard laid out 21 precepts that can help anyone live a happier life,” said Mr. Anderson. “This includes the precept ‘Be industrious’ and everyone at the park demonstrated that by their commitment to East Tampa.”

Mr. Anderson was welcomed onto the event stage by WTMP’s Ebone Cruz, who served as the Mistress of Ceremonies for the event. Mr. Anderson took the opportunity to talk about the importance of treating others with dignity and respect, which is also a part of The Way to Happiness.

“Mr. Hubbard stated that applying respect to others is something anyone can do,” added Mr. Anderson. “Mr. Hubbard wrote that ‘one can take a hand, no matter how small, in beginning a new era for human relations.’ I completely agree.”

Other community groups also had booths to promote their activities to help make the Summer a safer one. These included: the College Hill Neighborhood Watch and Civic Association; Tampa Police Department; Cons Helping Cons and Cups of Love Fridays.

The new City of Tampa Chief of Police, Eric Holder, was also at the event. Chief Holder spent time talking to the attendees.

Though the event was ended prematurely by a rainstorm, Mr. Anderson considered the event a success, “We built more relationships with the community and we were honored to be a part of the event.”
