OMA Reports a 16.6% Increase in June 2015 Passenger Traffic

MONTERREY, Mexico, July 6, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, S.A.B. de C.V., known as OMA (NASDAQ:OMAB) (BMV:OMA), reports that terminal passenger traffic at its 13 airports increased 16.6% in June 2015, as compared to June 2014. Domestic traffic increased 15.9%, and international traffic increased 21.8%.

Of total June traffic, 98.4% was commercial aviation and 1.6% was general aviation.

Domestic traffic increased in 12 airports in June. The most noteworthy increases were in Monterrey (+20.1%; +102,237 passengers), Culiacán (+15.1%; +14,823), Chihuahua (+20.1%; +13,796) y Ciudad Juárez (+16.4%; +10,132). Monterrey traffic increased principally on the Mexico City, Cancún, Bajío, Villahermosa, and Guadalajara routes. Culiacán increased traffic on its Tijuana and Mexico City routes. Chihuahua and Ciudad Juárez increased traffic on their Mexico City routes.

International traffic increased in eight airports in June. Traffic increased most significantly in Monterrey (+29.2%; +25,268 passengers), principally as a result of increased traffic on the Houston, Miami, New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Chicago routes. In June, American Airlines opened the Monterrey-Miami route.

The number of flight operations (takeoffs and landings) in June increased 3.3% as compared to the same month of 2014. The number of domestic operations increased 1.8% and international operations increased 14.2%.
