OXNARD, Calif., July 8, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Clean Diesel Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:CDTI) ("CDTi" or "the Company"), a leader in advanced emission control technology, announced it has received certification from the Verification of Emission Reduction Technologies Association (VERT®) for CDTi's Purifilter® EGR diesel particulate filter (DPF) system. This recognition expands CDTi's retrofit market by enabling the Company to address opportunities in South America and other international locations. CDTi estimates there are more than 60,000 urban transit buses in major South American cities that need DPF retrofitting with VERT-certified products.
"We plan to leverage VERT's certification of our Purifilter EGR to exploit retrofit opportunities outside North America," stated Chris Harris, CDTi's President and CEO. "Compatible with a wide variety of on- and off-road engines, we believe Purifilter EGR provides exceptional reliability and filtration performance that either meets or exceeds the requirements of increasingly stringent environmental regulations. While the new DuraFit™ product line of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) replacement DPFs in North America remains the top strategic priority for our Heavy Duty Diesel Systems division, we continue to target specific retrofit projects that capitalize on our many government approvals and long track history in heavy duty diesel retrofits."
Purifilter EGR is one of CDTi's key heavy duty diesel retrofit systems. It features CDTi's low-platinum group metal (PGM) diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) technology and its zero-PGM passively-regenerating DPF catalytic coating. Purifilter EGR is verified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The VERT Association was founded in Switzerland in 1993. Since then, VERT has developed some of the most important particle filter testing procedures, supported various international partners with retrofit programs and retrofit consulting and established a worldwide network of manufacturers of components, systems, engines, vehicles and measurement devices along with environmental, medical and technical research facilities specialized in the field of air quality.
CDTi manufactures and distributes vehicle emissions control products that leverage its advanced materials technology. CDTi utilizes its proprietary patented Mixed Phase Catalyst (MPC®) technology and other related technologies to provide high-value sustainable solutions to reduce emissions, increase energy efficiency and lower the carbon intensity of on- and off-road combustion engine systems. Reflecting its continued focus on innovation, CDTi is developing and commercializing proprietary advanced low-platinum group metal (PGM) catalysts including synergized-PGM (SPGM™), as well as zero-PGM (ZPGM™) catalysts. CDTi is headquartered in Oxnard, California and has operations in the U.K., Canada, France, Japan and Sweden. For more information, please visit www.cdti.com.
