Dr. Carlson will be speaking on the subject of new research in the area of how to break Cipher Block Chaining Mode (CBC). Dr. Carlson and his research team have been able to develop hacking attacks on CBC that are consistently effective and are mathematically provable and predictable. This is particularly important since CBC is at the very heart of modern ciphers commonly used in commercial and non-commercial applications. In his presentation, Dr. Carlson will also discuss how to make CBC and the associated ciphers immune from these new findings.
