British publishing company Pearson is exploring the sale of its financial newspaper, the Financial Times, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing people familiar to the situation.
The sale of the newspaper may be valued as high as $1.6 billion, the report said.
The report added that, while the sale process has not formally began, the salmon newspaper could draw interest from Berlin-based Axel Springer, one of the largest digital publishers in Europe.
Pearson did not immediately respond to CNBC's request for comment. Axel Springer declined to comment.
