RALEIGH, N.C., Aug. 6, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Elster Solutions announced today that one member-owned and three public utilities have recently selected Elster to automate meter data collection.
The municipalities of Borough of Quakertown, PA; City of Lamar, MO; and Town of Frederick, CO and member-owned utility High West Energy, WY intend to use Elster Managed Services to monitor and manage their electric, water and gas services.
The utilities are replacing aging electricity meters with digital electronic meters equipped with communication modules and infrastructure. Under the Managed Services model, Elster maintains and manages the information technology infrastructure and software for the utilities. Each utility will receive regular reports with up-to-date meter data, and can also access meter data on demand.
"We are pleased to be able to move forward with this technology without the expense and risk of installing, staffing and maintaining the IT infrastructure and applications," said Lynn Calton, City Administrator, City Utilities of Lamar, Missouri. "We will be able to continue improving our customer service with the greater reliability, efficiency and accuracy enabled through this project. We are excited to be able to install the new AMI system that will enable us to increase revenue with more accurate readings, more easily troubleshoot, and reduce expenses of personnel by eliminating field trips for shutoffs."
"With Elster Managed Services, these utilities can provide their citizens with the ability to track daily electricity usage and better manage their consumption and costs," said Mike Caranfa, SVP Sales and Strategy, Elster Solutions. "This service also enables the utilities to respond more quickly, increase customer engagement, increase operational efficiency, and provide real-time monitoring capability."
