US job openings total 5.2 million in June vs 5.3 million expected

U.S. job openings were little changed at 5.2 million in June, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Wednesday.

Economists had expected job openings to hit 5.3 million in June, according to a consensus estimate from Thomson Reuters.

The job openings rate for June remained at 3.6 percent for the third month in a row. Openings decreased in nondurable goods manufacturing and were little changed in all four geographic regions of the country.

Hires came in at 5.2 million and separations were little changed at 4.9 million.
