KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 16, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Knoxville chiropractor Dr. Nathan E. Leavitt is hosting a community workshop series to address common health and wellness issues the chiropractor sees every day in his practice. Dr. Leavitt says the workshops will include the "top three killers in America and how to avoid them", how to live a quality life without drugs or surgery and how to reduce the risk for sick medical debt. Dr. Leavitt says he is passionate about not only helping his patients live pain-free lives, but empowering them to take control of their health. He says that the wellness workshop series is a natural extension of his commitment to health care education and empowerment.
"There's a lot of information floating around today about health care and a lot of contradictory information about what people should eat, how people should exercise and how people can best live a healthy life," said Dr. Nathan Leavitt, D.C. "One thing I've noticed with many of my patients is that they are eager to make healthy choices, but are confused by conflicting information. That's why I'm offering a community workshop. My goal is to clear up many of the misconceptions people have about healthy living and give them the resources and tools they need for a healthier life."
During the workshop, Dr. Leavitt says he will address some of the questions that are most frequently asked by his patients. These questions include what "health really is" and the "top three killers in America today – and how to avoid them."
"Health is more than the absence of pain or injury," said Dr. Leavitt. "Good health is an empowered approach to living that proactively reduces the risk for sickness and injury through positive daily choices, including eating a balanced diet, getting regular exercise, and living a quality life without drugs or surgery."
Dr. Leavitt says he will also address concerns patients have about medical debt, which is the leading cause for bankruptcy in the United States.
"Many of my patients worry that they will become sick or injured and go into serious debt paying for these medical expenses," said Dr. Leavitt. "Chiropractic care is a safe, drug-free, non-invasive technique that can help treat many common health problems while also reducing the risk for chronic health conditions."
Dr. Leavitt follows a multi-disciplinary approach to pain management and injury rehabilitation that is reflected in his collaborative approach to care.
"I believe in working with the patient to help achieve his or her wants and needs," said Dr. Leavitt. "I believe that care should be interactive. Rather than just telling my patients what to do or not to do, I like to work side-by-side with patients as their wellness counselor and guide on their journey to better health."
