BOSTON, Aug. 26, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Beazley, a leading insurer of architects' and engineers' (A &E) professional liability insurance, has expanded its coverage to include comprehensive data breach response services and first party protection. This is in addition to the third party privacy liability coverage that is part of the base policy form.
The new coverage, offered under an endorsement to Beazley's A &E form, gives A &E firms access to the full suite of data breach response services provided by Beazley Breach Response (BBR) Services, a dedicated business unit established by Beazley which has, to date, helped clients manage the consequences of more than 2,500 data breaches. These services include forensics (to help clients established what data was lost or stolen), legal advice (47 US states have their own data breach regulations), notification for affected customers and/or employees, and credit monitoring.
"Any organization that holds personally identifiable information relating to customers or employees is at risk of a data breach," said Jim Schwartz, A &E focus group leader at Beazley. "Fortunately for design firms, Beazley has exceptional experience and expertise in this field. Our BBR policy, launched in 2009, pioneered the concept of comprehensive protection that provided a rapid and reliable response to data breaches, as well as robust liability coverage."
The risk of data breaches cannot be forestalled in its entirety: there are simply too many technological and organizational vulnerabilities that determined hackers can exploit. But sensible risk management can reduce the risk. Design firms covered by Beazley under the BBR endorsement will be entitled to enrol in beazleybreachsolutions.com, a risk management portal that provides educational and loss control information relating to compliance with applicable laws, safe-guarding information, preparing to respond to breach incidents and best practices.
