Sandy Spring Bancorp Announces Stock Repurchase Program

OLNEY, Md., Aug. 27, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sandy Spring Bancorp, Inc., (Nasdaq:SASR), the parent company of Sandy Spring Bank, today announced that the Company's board of directors has authorized the repurchase of up to 1,200,000 shares of the Company's common stock, or approximately 5% of currently outstanding shares. This repurchase authorization replaces the Company's existing repurchase program that expires August 31, 2015. Repurchases, which will be conducted through open market purchases or privately negotiated transactions, will be made from time to time depending on market conditions and other factors.



"This repurchase program is similar to other plans we have had in place over the years as part of our overall capital management strategy," said Daniel J. Schrider, President and CEO. "We have been in the market at various times during 2015 and will continue when we believe it to be advantageous."

The Company purchased 575,472 shares of its common stock in the first two quarters of 2015 at an average cost of $25.92 per share or a total of $14.9 million.
