What's your September swoon strategy?

Some accepted stock market wisdom has as much factual basis as a fairy tale, but the September swoon can't easily be put in that group.

As BlackRock global chief investment strategist Russ Koesterich blogged recently, statistics show there is a long-term tendency for the S&P 500 to decline in September, although the tendency has weakened in more recent years.

And even skeptics of the annual swoon may be positioning for an unusual September this year, with the possibility there may still be a disruptive U.S. Federal Reserve rate rise.
