First Citizens Completes Systems Conversion of Merged South Carolina Bank

RALEIGH, N.C., Sept. 8, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- First Citizens Bank Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Frank B. Holding, Jr. announced that effective today (Tuesday, Sept. 8) customer accounts and the systems of the former First Citizens Bank and Trust Company, based in Columbia, S.C., have been integrated into the North Carolina-headquartered company's banking operations.

"This conversion represents a landmark step for First Citizens, uniting two separate banking operations and systems into one," Holding said. "We've fortified our already solid foundation and positioned our bank for an even more successful future. With our combined strengths, products, services and skilled associates, we're equipped to deliver our special Forever First brand of banking to more customers and serve them better than ever before."

On Jan. 1, 2015, First Citizens Bank and Trust Company Inc., based in Columbia, S.C., merged with and into First-Citizens Bank & Trust Company, known as First Citizens Bank, headquartered in Raleigh, N.C. First Citizens is the largest family-controlled bank in the nation and the sixth-largest bank franchise headquartered in the Southeast.

The technical conversion announced today included the systems integration of 172 branches in South Carolina and Georgia. The combined First Citizens Bank operates 568 branches in 18 states and the District of Columbia.

Information detailing the transition was mailed to South Carolina and Georgia customers in early August. These customers should continue to bank as they normally do, with their current checks, debit cards and credit cards. They should now visit firstcitizens.com to access their accounts online.

The majority of account information and service by local associates is remaining the same. The systems conversion means First Citizens has a greater capacity to serve a broader spectrum of businesses and individuals through an expanded network of branches.
