Photo Release -- Krakus(R) Polish Ham Donates $10,000 to Copernicus Foundation at The Taste of Polonia in Chicago

CHICAGO, Sept. 9, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The passengers on board the Krakus Ham Train on Chicago's Blue Line joined Krakus in helping the local community. Krakus, The True Imported Polish Ham, made a pledge to the Copernicus Foundation to donate 25 cents for each passenger riding the branded Krakus Ham Train cars last Sunday. The initiative culminated in a $10,000 contribution, which was made at the Taste of Polonia Festival in Chicago. The donation was the capstone event to a month long celebration of Krakus being the #1 Deli Ham in Chicago, according to Nielson Group.

"Krakus takes great pride in supporting the Polish community," said Mike Sargent, Senior Brand Manager, Krakus. "The Copernicus Foundation is very important and special to Chicago. We're excited to make this donation and further the Copernicus Foundation's mission to enrich Polish Culture in the community. We appreciate all the loyal Krakus fans that helped make this donation possible."

Chicago's Blue Line train took on a new and delicious look last month to celebrate the Krakus number one deli ham in Chicago position. Krakus wrapped two of the train's cars in graphics reminiscent of the Imported Polish Deli Ham. One car mirrored the packaging of Krakus Polish Ham and the other showcased a delicious Krakus Ham sandwich. The train also transported riders to and from the Taste of Polonia Festival at the Copernicus Center where Krakus was also a sponsor.

"We're extremely thankful for all of our Krakus Ham fans in Chicago," continued Sargent. "They've been very faithful to our Polish Ham for generations, giving us nearly 50% market share in Chicago. That's not something we take for granted. We hope everyone enjoyed our Krakus Ham Train as a way of celebrating Krakus as a family tradition."
