Even though investors often look at metrics such as the price-earnings ratio and dividend yield, the portfolio manager thinks those values can often be misleading.

Instead, Weiss, who's an alumnus of SAC Capital and Lehman Brothers, says there is one key value that trumps all others when valuing a company.
