Cheniere Energy shares were up about 1 percent after investor Carl Icahn announced that he upped his stake in the liquefied natural gas producer to 9.59 percent from 8.18 percent, according to a security filling.
Shares of Pebblebrook Hotel Trust fell about 5 percent after it said revenue per available room at comparable properties may come in below the low end of its previous third-quarter forecast. The hotel investment company said it experienced "weaker than anticipated" demand in August.
Shares of biopharmaceutical firm Alkermes fell about 2 percent in after-hours trading. Earlier, the company's chairman and vice president collectively registered more than 220,000 company shares.
Gray Television popped about 6 percent after it announced an agreement to acquire Schurz Communications' television and radio stations for nearly $443 million. The deal, which Gray said would boost its exposure to "politically competitive markets," is expected to close by the end of first quarter of next year.
