Social media platform Twitter's main website was experiencing technical difficulties on Monday afternoon before coming back online.
Nevertheless, its application programming interface and TweetDeck, another desktop application, as well as its mobile app, continued to operate without interruption.
"From 11:22am to 12:16pm PST, users may have experienced issues accessing www.twitter.com. Other services including mobile were not affected," Twitter later said in a post.

The company's stock hit a session low at 2:34 p.m. ET and closed down 1.79 percent at $26.90.
