CLEARWATER, Fla., Oct. 15, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In honor of National Bullying Prevention Month, United for Human Rights Florida, an organization supported by the Church of Scientology and which educates youth and adults on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, held a seminar on bullying prevention on Wednesday the 14th of October in its new downtown Clearwater office.
Guests representing other human rights organizations including the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), Florida Coalition Against Human Trafficking, as well as, the Public Defender’s Office, veterans and youth mentoring groups attended the seminar. Gracia Bennish, President of United for Human Rights Florida and recipient of the 2015 President’s Volunteer Service Gold Award delivered the seminar.
The seminar was based on one of the lesson plans from the United for Human Rights Educator’s kit, which defines “bullying” and helps participants to not only envision a world where everyone understands their human rights but also where everyone actively works to see all are protected from human rights abuses. Guests were also treated to a presentation of their UNITED music video and the “Story of Human Rights” which laid out the history of human rights on Earth in a succinct but information-packed 10-minute video.
One youth mentor who attended the event said, “I am so impressed with this seminar and the visual presentations that accompany it. I want to take this presentation to the youth I mentor so they can understand their human rights and prevent bullying.”
The United for Human Rights office at 29 North Fort Harrison Ave, Clearwater Florida 33755 is open to the public from 10 am to 10 pm daily and offers interactive displays and materials on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
