4 trades on the future of transportation

On a day filled with "Back to the Future" fanfare, "Fast Money" traders chose their best bets to play the decades ahead.

In the series' second film, "Back to the Future II," Marty McFly and Doc Brown arrive in the future on Oct. 21, 2015. Film screenings and special corporate offers popped up around the United States on Wednesday.

Traders picked their top transportation stocks for the future in honor of the franchise's DeLorean time machine.

Apple

Whether Apple makes its own electric car or develops software for other companies' vehicles, the tech giant could play a large role in the auto industry, said trader Tim Seymour.

"Even if it's just the operating system, Apple is certainly going to be a big part of transportation going forward," said Seymour, who owns Apple shares.
