SAN DIEGO, Oct. 27, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Leading retail investment advisory firm and independent broker/dealer LPL Financial LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of LPL Financial Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:LPLA), today kicks off its 2015 ADVocate RIA Symposium in Miami, bringing together approximately 100 of LPL's top independent registered investment advisors (RIAs), top sponsors and third-party technology vendors to discuss best practices for independent RIA firms and trends impacting the market.
The event is occurring during a significant period of growth for LPL’s independent RIA channel, which serves a growing number of independent RIAs that conduct their advisory business through separate entities operating pursuant to the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 or through their respective states' investment advisory licensing rules, rather than through LPL Financial. As of June 30, 2015, assets managed or serviced by advisors associated with independent RIA firms grew more than 35 percent over a 12-month period to $111.6 billion, representing 359 firms, compared to $81.8 billion and 282 firms as of June 30, 2014.
“As one of the fastest growing RIA custodians in the industry, LPL continues to be a top destination of choice for successful and sophisticated RIA firms,” said Matt Enyedi, LPL executive vice president, RIA and High-Net-Worth Solutions. “We created this symposium to provide insights and best practices to help our advisors run efficient, profitable practices with the common goal of helping their clients achieve their financial goals.”
The conference will focus on five key themes: growth, practice management and efficiency, technology, compliance, and leadership. In addition to LPL executives and industry guest speakers, a number of individual advisors are also scheduled to speak or participate in panels to provide peer insight and share ideas on how advisors can create a better experience for their clients and staff.
“I look forward to the RIA ADVocate Symposium each year because I know I will come away with practical information and actionable ideas I can immediately put to use,” said David Armstrong, president and co-founder of Monument Wealth Management, an independent RIA firm in Alexandria, Va. “The program has helped me to stay well-informed of financial trends and industry best practices that enable me to continue to provide the best service and support to my clients. Given its intimate size, the symposium also provides one of the best opportunities for me to share ideas and network with my peers, LPL executives, and other industry leaders.”
