MALVERN, Pa., Nov. 20, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE:VSH) today announced that the Vishay Dale IWAS-4832FE-50 wireless charging receiving coil has received the 2015 Innovation Award, Passive Components category, from the Italian magazine Selezione di Elettronica. The award ceremony took place on Oct. 29, at the Area Pergolesi de Milano in Milan, Italy.
The WPC-compliant (Wireless Power Consortium) wireless charging receiving coil is designed for 10 W applications. Offering a durable construction and high permeability shielding, the IWAS-4832FE-50 delivers peak efficiencies up to 84% for wireless charging up to 10 W. Applications include portable electronics, mobile phones, tablets, and other handheld devices.
The IWAS-4832FE-50’s high-saturation powdered iron is not affected by permanent locating magnets, and shields charging flux from sensitive components or batteries. As an alternative to ferrite-based solutions — which can saturate in the presence of a strong magnetic field — the IWAS-4832FE-50 offers a magnetic saturation of < 50% at 4000 gauss. The RoHS-compliant device is available in standard and custom inductance values to operate in WPC-compatible circuitry for 5 W and 10 W. The IWAS-4832FE-50’s rated current of 2 A enables 10 W of charge at 5 V or 1 A at 10 V. The receiving coil features a standard lead length of 50 mm and tinned length of 10 mm.
