Capitol Rehab of Crofton Treats NFL Players Using AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill

CROFTON, Md., Dec. 13, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Capitol Rehab of Crofton announced that the practice is now using the AlterG Anti-Gravity treadmill machine. The machine improves patient outcomes by reducing the pain and physical stress of rehabilitation, according to Dr. Shaun R, McClenny DC CCSP. Scientific studies show that the AlterG is beneficial for patients recovering from sports injuries, auto accident injuries and personal injuries. The AlterG works by reducing gravity’s impact on the body while moving. This reduction improves mobility and strength by allowing the body to safely train without pain and reduce the impact of stress on the joints and muscles.

The AlterG Anti-Gravity treadmill is helping Crofton sports-injury patients recover faster while strengthening the body and reducing the risk for future injury. Patients include NFL players Shawn Lemon, Justin Rogers, Phil Taylor, and Emmanuel Acho.

“The AlterG reduces gravity’s impact by 20 to 100 percent of a patient’s body weight in precise, one percent increments,” said Dr. Shaun R, McClenny DC CCSP. "As a result, patients improve mobility and strength while reducing stress on the joints and muscles. We work with patients of all physical abilities, including major NFL players, recreational athletes, and local residents.”

Dr. McClenny specializes in musculoskeletal and nervous system disorders in relation to the treatment of sports, work and automobile injuries. “I am passionate about empowering my patients with at-home care and exercise rehabilitation so they heal faster after injury, recovery more quickly, and have a lower risk for future injuries,” said Dr. McClenny. “At Capitol Rehab of Crofton, we’re proud to provide cutting-edge physical therapy resources for faster recovery after injury.”

Dr. McClenny says that the AlterG treadmill is also beneficial for patients who are seeking to jumpstart weight loss. The machine provides a safe way to lose weight with more intense exercises when patients are unweighted. “The AlterG treadmill is an important tool for our physical therapy rehabilitation programs,” said Dr. McClenny. “Our programs also include at-home exercises designed to improve range of motion and enhance coordination after injury. The combination of easy, at-home-care and AlterG treadmill work helps our patients heal quickly and safely so they can get back to living an active life.”

Capitol Rehab of Crofton also offers comprehensive sports nutrition and movement programs for patients seeking to improve their athletic performance on and off the field. This includes a Functional Movement Screen assessment that identifies limitations or asymmetries that are hindering functional movement. Dr. McClenny says that identifying and treating this incorrect movement patterns can reduce the risk for injury and improve athletic performance.
