Check out the companies making headlines after the bell Wednesday:

Shares of Cal-Maine Foods dropped sharply in extended hours trading. The $2.5 billion egg producer missed both EPS and revenue estimates in their earnings report on Wednesday. The company also cited weakness on the sales front.

Micron Technology stock inched lower after the bell. The chipmaker's downward trend continued as it reported less-than-stellar earnings results Tuesday evening.

Shares of Hess Corp. also edged lower in after-hours trading. Just last week, CEO John Hess told CNBC he thinks oil could reach $60 per barrel by the end of 2016.

Despite closing up slights above 8 percent, shares of oil and gas company, Cimarex Energy also trickled downward after hours.

Synergy Resources, another oil and gas production business, saw similar movement, closing up nearly 8 percent. Its shares plummeted in extended hours trading.
