Severe tornado and hail warnings have been issued for parts of the southern and western United States as far north as the Ohio Valley, Weather.com reported Wednesday morning.
The record-breaking warm pattern of "blowtorch weather" this month has increased humidity and the chance of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging gusts of wind and precipitation. This threat will peak in today's afternoon and evening hours, according to Weather Channel expert Dr. Greg Forbes, the report stated.
Damaging wind warnings have been issued for parts of Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. In addition, the Tornado Conditions Index predicts that there is a 70 percent chance of tornadoes occurring within 50 miles of west Tennessee, northern Mississippi and northern Alabama, according to the report.
More warnings are likely to come as the day progresses.
