SpaceX successfully tests parachutes for Dragon spacecraft

SpaceX successfully tested four large parachutes that will be used to land the company's Crew Dragon spacecraft, which are slated to carry astronauts back to Earth from the International Space Station.

NASA published video of the descent on Wednesday which depicts four red-and-white striped parachutes deploying and slowing a mock spacecraft to the ground.

Initially, the spacecraft will land in the ocean, but the company seeks to utilize eight SuperDraco engines — tested in Texas in November of last year — to have the vehicle touch down on land, according to NASA.
