GOP mega-donor Langone backs Kasich campaign

John Kasich revived a sagging Republican presidential campaign in New Hampshire. The Ohio governor will now move forward with the backing of a deep-pocketed donor.

Home Depot co-founder Ken Langone will back Kasich's presidential bid, CNBC confirmed Thursday. The billionaire previously supported New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who dropped out of the race Wednesday.

The endorsement could give a key financial boost to Kasich, who finished second in this week's New Hampshire primary. He currently trails most of his GOP competitors in the money race.

Langone gave $250,000 last year to America Leads, a pro-Christie super PAC, according to the Federal Election Commission.

The next Republican primary is set for Feb. 20 in South Carolina.
