In a CNBC exclusive interview with Steve Liesman, Federal Reserve Gov. Lael Brainard shared her dovish views on monetary policy, the state of the economy and inflation.
"We have very strong crosscurrents from abroad. Weak growth from emerging economies," Brainard told CNBC. She added, "And of course weakness coming over from China. There is some downside to the domestic outlook."
Brainard has served on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors since June 2014. Previously, she was the undersecretary of the U.S. Department of the Treasury from 2010 to 2013.
