Presents Best Practices for Seed Stage Companies to #GetToA
Dreamit Event Connects Healthcare Industry Leaders with High-Potential Disrupters
AUSTIN, Texas, March 14, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Leading global startup accelerator Dreamit brought acceleration to SXSW today, presenting three high-impact sessions in Startup Village: “Mind the Gap: Getting From Seed to Series A,” “Keys to Quickly and Efficiently De-Risk Your Startup,” and “How to Get Great Customer Feedback.” The presentations followed Saturday’s Healthcare Happy Hour & Alumni Showcase.
“Dreamit is about finding the future, and there’s nowhere in the world better than SXSW to look,” said Dreamit CEO Avi Savar. “It’s been a real pleasure to be surrounded by so many of our alumni who are here presenting, fundraising, and making customer connections to move industries forward.”
Led by Savar, Chief Innovation Officer Steve Barsh, Chief Investment Officer Karen Griffith Gryga, and other members of the Dreamit team, the Startup Village presentations reflected insights from the proven Dreamit curriculum, particularly aimed at helping seed stage companies scale in preparation for raising their next capital round in an increasingly crowded field.
In “Mind the Gap,” Savar addressed the Series A funding gap:
“Getting to A has never been more difficult. Even though the total amount of available capital has increased by over 60% in the last 8 years, the total number of VC deals has basically stayed the same, making the gap from seed to A infinitely more challenging than in previous years. We have found that more than ever, capital follows momentum which follows customers. Entrepreneurs need access to marquis customers early in their lifeycle if they want to differentiate themselves from the pack.”
Prior to today’s Startup Village presentations, Dreamit on Saturday hosted a Happy Hour & Alumni Showcase in the MedTech Expo for nearly 400 attendees at the forefront of healthcare innovation. The event connected representatives from some of the major payers and providers in the country with founders of disruptive startups including Dreamit alumni BioBots, Sisu Global Health, Gray Matter Technologies, RegDesk, and more.
Ranked one of the top 10 accelerators in the world by Forbes and a top 20 most active venture investor by the National Venture Capital Association and PricewaterhouseCoopers, Dreamit focuses on bringing the right people together to drive progressive innovation and real business velocity. Dreamit has launched over 220 startups that have gone on to raise in excess of $275M and are collectively worth in excess of $1B including LevelUp, SeatGeek, BioBots, Biomeme, Adaptly, Meerkat, and more.
