DUNEDIN, Fla., March 27, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Patients need to seek treatment as early as possible due to new regulations impacting personal injury, reports Raveling Chiropractic Center. Auto accident victims are now placed under additional stress as there is a new Florida state law in regards to car accident injuries that states the individuals that are injured during a car accident have only 14 days with which to begin initial treatment. Previously, there was no time limit imposed on accident victims. This means that available PIP benefits for those that start treatment after 14 days will be considerably reduced.
As found with many auto accident patients, the full scope of injury unveils itself in time. The changes to recent Florida law directly impacts victims and causes undue stress as those involved in auto accidents may be handling multiple appointments and issues at once. Dunedin residents are vulnerable to the new imposed changes and should take note of how it may affect their treatment options and those of loved ones. In addition, policy holders may only be eligible for $2,500 in coverage, as compared to a previous cap of $10,000. Patients will require certification from a medical doctor, dentist, osteopathic physician, advanced registered nurse practitioner, or physician assistant to support the need for immediate medical attention. Insurance companies do not need to notify policyholders of changes and effective complementary medical care, such as massage therapy and acupuncture, will not be covered under PIP. Policyholders that pay the same rates have fewer benefits and a tiny window of opportunity to get the treatment that they may need.
“Chiropractic care has been proven to be effective in many personal injury cases,” said Dr. Paul Raveling. “As an experienced chiropractor, I use gentle and effective manipulations and specialized techniques to address injuries at their source. I treat more than neck and back pain, but injuries from slip and falls, work injuries, and trauma from car accidents. This new law directly impacts the scope of care that patients can receive and be covered for, and severely limits their window for initial treatment. We work quickly with patients and a network of other medical professionals to get the treatment that patients need from all parties necessary. We want to make the entire process as easy and stress-free as possible and enable patients to make a full recovery.”
Dr. Paul Raveling has been offering chiropractic treatment and complementary care to the communities of Dunedin, Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Tarpon Springs and Oldsmar.
