Established in 1972, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve promotes cooperation between National Guard and Reserve members and their employers.

“Each day, employers like Navient help these brave men and women maintain their commitment to the nation and our great state,” said Barry Green, military outreach director, Indiana Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. “As an employer, Navient’s active support and encouragement are vital to enabling employees who are members of the National Guard and Reserve to serve our country.”

An employee serving in the National Guard or Reserve, or the spouse of a Guard or Reserve member, may nominate individual supervisors and bosses for support provided directly to the nominating service member and his or her family.

Sachs was nominated by Shelbi Hanneman, an operations specialist for Navient and four-year member of the Indiana Army National Guard.

“I am honored to have been nominated and to receive this award and proud to be a part of a company that supports the men and women who serve our nation,” Sachs said after receiving the award. “Juggling a busy full-time work schedule while serving in the Guard or Reserve can be a challenge. By providing a flexible work schedule, service members can have one less thing to worry about throughout the day.”

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve is supported by a network of more than 4,500 volunteers in 54 committees located across all 50 states.

Navient is the nation’s leading loan management, servicing and asset recovery company with Indiana operations in Fishers, Indianapolis and Muncie.
