Herbalife shares jump 13% after it says FTC talks are in advanced stages

Herbalife said Thursday afternoon that its talks with the FTC are in advanced stages, and it could face a payment of about $200 million if the long-running investigation ends in a settlement.

Shares in Herbalife jumped more than 13 percent in after-hours trading.

The company said there are still a number of open issues with the FTC, and the range of possible outcomes includes litigation or settlement.
