CONCORD TOWNSHIP, Ohio, May 19, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Lake Health has selected Cerner, a global leader in health care technology, as its long-term supplier to deliver an integrated electronic health record (EHR). The Cerner Millennium® EHR will support the Lake Health system and its employed providers, as well as create greater integration with its community physician network. Patients will benefit from a single health record accessible from a patient portal.
“A strong relationship with our medical staff is the cornerstone of who we are, evidenced by their role in our mission and vision statements and in working with us to provide high-quality patient and family-centered health care in Lake County,” said Jerry Peters, VP and CIO for Lake Health. “Cerner’s advanced health care information technology, combined with our excellence in clinical care, will help support our goal to provide the best patient experience possible across the care continuum in northeast Ohio.”
Cerner’s advanced interoperability capabilities will enable the health system to share and receive patient health records with affiliated providers, other area hospitals and even participating health care entities nationally. As in many communities, patient data is produced, managed and stored across multiple care organizations in Lake County, and Lake Health was focused on selecting an IT platform that could collect and analyze data from multiple disparate systems. Lake Health determined that Cerner’s EHR and HealthelntentSM population health management platforms were the best choice to support its future initiatives and business model.
“Understanding that this investment would most likely shape the future of Lake Health and the care we provide to patients, we completed a thorough evaluation of leading health IT suppliers and collaborated with our physicians and ultimately determined that Cerner was the right choice to support our needs now and into the future,” Peters said.
Cerner’s Healthelntent platform aggregates and normalizes data from various sources in near real time, regardless of EHR supplier, and is designed to provide physicians and mid-level providers with meaningful data to identify and stratify populations to locate gaps in care. Through this process, a longitudinal record is established for individuals within a population. The platform will also help engage patients beyond the hospital setting and manage outcomes to an optimal level with the goal of improving the overall health of the community.
“Lake Health and Cerner share a commitment to ensure physicians who care for a large percentage of Lake County residents have access to the right patient data at the right time. The health system’s leaders and physicians are a strong and visionary group of individuals who we’re proud to work with and support,” said Dick Flanigan, president of Cerner HS. “We look forward to supporting Lake Health’s transition to the Millennium and HealtheIntent platforms and are excited about the possibilities our relationship creates for Lake Health and the people of Lake County.”
