The traditionally dead seasonal period for the stock market — popularized by the "sell in May" maxim — kicks off at the end of this month. But don't sell yet.

History shows the market tends to rise in the final days of May as traders have their last moments of fun, especially in higher beta stocks, before taking off for the summer.

Using Kensho, a hedge fund analytics tool, we screened for which markets and securities moved the most during the last five trading days of May since 1990.
