SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 26, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Adesto Technologies (NASDAQ:IOTS), a leading provider of application-specific, ultra-low power non-volatile memory products, today announced new low-power additions to its family of non-volatile memory products for battery-operated and energy harvesting electronics. The new Moneta RM3300 products offer the ability to perform read and write operations at 50-100x lower power than competitive solutions. They also provide system designers standard voltage supply options, including the ability to optimize power by choosing an I/O operating range (nominal 1.8V, 2.5V or 3.3V) that best suits system requirements.
“Adesto’s Moneta products are the lowest power non-volatile memory devices available,” said Gideon Intrater, CTO of Adesto. “The RM3300 products can be readily integrated into system level solutions and will help designers of connected devices to lower overall product power consumption. With the RM3300, our customers have the flexibility to develop products with non-volatile memory optimized for their specific applications.”
Internet of Things (IoT) devices are forecast to number in the billions of units in the next several years. But for many IoT, wearable, medical, and industrial products, the limitations of traditional memory technologies present a barrier to successful product development. Moneta is a discrete, ultra-low power memory solution designed to reduce overall system energy use in these connected devices. Moneta memory can extend battery life and/or allow designers the flexibility to use smaller batteries to power their systems. Moneta’s ultra-low power requirements can also enable IoT nodes for battery-free operation, using energy harvested from the environment for operation.
Inside Moneta Memory Technology
Moneta’s power-conscious design includes an ultra-deep power down feature that allows the device to standby with 4-5x less power than competitive products, and to automatically enter the ultra-deep power down mode following write operations, reducing controller operations and overall system energy.
The Moneta family is built on Adesto’s revolutionary Conductive Bridging RAM (CBRAM) technology, breakthrough non-volatile memory that enables extremely low energy consumption. Adesto is the first company to successfully commercialize a resistive RAM technology, having shipped millions of production parts since its introduction to customers seeking high-speed, low-energy non-volatile memory solutions including wireless communications and other IoT applications.
“PsiKick’s systems leverage sub-threshold design and ultra-low-power circuit techniques to drive the leading edge of what’s possible in low-power wireless sensors and systems,” said Ben Calhoun, co-CTO, at PsiKick , Inc., a venture backed start-up pioneering wireless, battery-less IoT systems. “Adesto’s ultra low power Moneta memory helps us to achieve our low power consumption goals.”
“Non-volatile memory solutions like Adesto’s fast, low-energy CBRAM products are an excellent fit for Rayson’s low latency Bluetooth modules,” said Bob Wu, Product Development Manager at Rayson Technology, a Taiwan-based provider of wired and wireless communications solutions. “As a leading provider of wired and wireless communications solutions, Rayson is committed to providing low-energy modules that offer reliable operation with long battery-life.”
Samples of Adesto’s Moneta products will be available in July 2016. The family includes a range of four densities: 32Kbit, 64Kbit, 128Kbit, and 256Kbit devices.
