Verizon to bid $3B for Yahoo's core business in second-round offer

Verizon Communications planned to submit a second-round bid of $3 billion for Yahoo's core internet business, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing a person familiar with the matter.

Private equity firm TPG was also expected to put in a second-round offer, but Verizon was seen as the leading bidder, the news outlet wrote.

Monday was the deadline for the second round of bids for the troubled tech company's major asset.

Yahoo was expected to hold at least one additional round of bidding, the WSJ added.
