In this role, Martin is responsible for building, growing and managing the company’s private banking business, which provides clients with structured, custom-packaged credit and banking deposit services and access to products that help manage changing interest rates.

With 30 years of financial services industry experience, Martin joins First Citizens from Capital One Bank in McLean, Va., where he headed up private banking national underwriting and commercial credit services. Prior to Capital One, Martin worked at Chevy Chase Bank and Wachovia Bank in various private banking and credit roles in both Virginia and North Carolina.
Martin currently serves as a member of the panel and the chairman’s committee for the Risk Management Association (RMA) North American Private Lending Roundtable. He’s also been actively involved in several Northern Virginia community foundations and nonprofit organizations for many years.
Martin holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration from Appalachian State University (1985). He also has earned the RMA National Credit Risk Certification (CRC). He is based at First Citizens’ headquarters in Raleigh, N.C.
