SoundCloud said to eye a $1 billion sale

Online audio streaming platform SoundCloud may be putting itself up for sale for as much as $1 billion, Bloomberg reported Wednesday.

SoundCloud founders and investors are in early talks about strategic options that could lead to a sale, unnamed sources told the news agency. But the owners have had trouble drumming up interest at the $1 billion price tag, two sources told Bloomberg.

The company told CNBC it does not comment on speculation.

SoundCloud, known for its community-driven content from independent musicians and podcasters, is fresh off a $70 million investment from Twitter,
