CICERO, Ill., July 29, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Broadwind Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ:BWEN) today announced its Board of Directors has approved a $4 million expansion of the Company’s Abilene, TX tower facility. The expansion plan will increase tower production capacity in this plant to approximately 200 towers annually, a 30% increase. The Company expects the expansion project to be complete in mid-2017.
Broadwind President and CEO Stephanie Kushner stated, “The strong demand for wind energy in the Texas region supports this expansion of our Abilene facility. We are moving forward aggressively to bring this additional 30% capacity on line which should support incremental annual revenues of approximately $15-20 million, while adding some important operating flexibility.”
