(NASDAQ:ALIM) (Alimera), a pharmaceutical company that specializes in research, development and commercialization of prescription ophthalmic pharmaceuticals, today announced that it has closed the previously announced underwritten public offering of 18,900,000 shares of its common stock at a price to the public of $1.40 per share for gross proceeds of $26.5 million. The shares include 900,000 shares of common stock sold pursuant to the over-allotment option granted by the Company to the underwriters, which option was exercised in full.
Cowen and Company, LLC acted as the sole book-running manager and Laidlaw & Company (UK) Ltd. acted as a co-manager in the offering.
A shelf registration statement on Form S-3 relating to the public offering of the shares of common stock described above was filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on August 11, 2014 and declared effective by the SEC on August 20, 2014.
