City of Irondale Honors EWTN Foundress With ‘Mother Angelica Way’

Irondale, AL, Sept. 14, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The City of Irondale, Ala., which is home to EWTN Global Catholic Network, will be honoring the Network’s iconic foundress by renaming a portion of Old Leeds Road “Mother Angelica Way.”

The City of Irondale, Ala., which is home to EWTN Global Catholic Network, will be honoring the Network’s iconic foundress by renaming a portion of the road fronting the religious media empire she founded “Mother Angelica Way.”


The public and the press are invited to attend a ceremony in which Irondale Mayor Tommy Joe Alexander and EWTN Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael P. Warsaw will formally dedicate the portion of Old Leeds Road and unveil a new memorial sign. The ceremony, which will also include local leaders, members of the community, visitors, and EWTN employees will take place at 10 a.m. CT, Friday, Sept. 16 directly across the street from the Network’s exit onto Old Leeds Road.

Following the dedication, the public is invited to tour the Network with EWTN’s friars, and to enjoy light refreshments.

Stewart, and Irondale Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tellis Shoemaker for paying tribute to her in this way. This weekend, September 17-18, also happens to be the date of EWTN’s annual Family Celebration at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex in downtown Birmingham.
