Gartner Analysts Recognize Varonis in 2016 Market Guide for File Analysis Software

NEW YORK, Sept. 29, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Varonis Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:VRNS), a leading provider of software solutions that protect data from insider threats and cyberattacks, has been recognized by Gartner as a representative vendor in its 2016 Market Guide for File Analysis Software.

Authored by Gartner Analyst Alan Dayley and others, the guide highlights the advantages of adopting file analysis along with key findings and recommendations on how to implement the software and a sample list of representative vendors.

In its Market Recommendations, Gartner said, “Organizations should use file analysis to gain a true understanding of their data, where it resides and who has access to it.”

In its Market Direction, Gartner said, “Organizations are struggling with uncontrolled data growth. Risk-aware and cost-conscious organizations are realizing they need a better understanding of their data in order to:

  • Effectively reduce the risk and inefficiencies buried in unstructured data
  • Better manage data in line with governance and policies
  • Optimize data management and storage infrastructure
  • Provide better access to unstructured data
  • Facilitate business use of data that has previously been deemed "dark"

“Of these,” Gartner continued, “risk mitigation has become the No. 1 use case for file analysis. The management of file ownership and the reporting of more accurate data usage patterns are also made available with file analysis, which can benefit all organizations.”

David Gibson, Varonis Vice President of Strategy and Market Development, said, "For more than a decade, Varonis has developed and pioneered a set of solutions for managing and protecting the most critical and sensitive data that organizations have, and we are pleased to again be recognized by Gartner as a representative vendor in file analysis. It is clear to us that Gartner's evaluation of file analysis software and its growing importance as an essential means of risk mitigation and productivity improvement is consistent with the way Varonis customers continue to realize value by analyzing the content, metadata and activity associated with data files. Connecting the dots between people and these files, and fully understanding the content within them, is finally becoming the recommended way to ensure that an organization's valuable and sensitive files are protected."

The Varonis Metadata Framework is the basis for a wide range of use cases including user behavior analytics (UBA), sensitive data classification and remediation, identity and access rights management, enterprise search, and storage reduction. Thousands of organizations around the world rely on Varonis to curtail over-exposure of their most valuable and sensitive data and help prevent the inevitable network breaches for causing harm.
