Jay reveals that his favorite vehicles are designed by engineers who were both designers and artists at the same time. He is completely blown away by the Black Shadow in front of him.
He sets out to meet two motorcycle enthusiasts: builder and designer Gard Hollinger, as well as famous actor Keanu Reeves. Reeves has put his work aside to partner up with Hollinger to make a custom bike. The love for bikes has made Reeves turn this into an actual bike company: "Arch."
Jay gets the opportunity to ride one of Reeves' bikes with him. He enjoys the ride with him, but he wants to get back to his real passion: cars!
Kirk and Jay talk Corvette designs. Jay notices how passionate Kirk is about his job: he can talk about it for days.
Jay experiments the significance of aerodynamics on the track. He goes kart-racing.
Jay compares times with professional kart racer Chris Wehrheim. He blows Jay out of the water as far as time in concerned. But, the focus on the experiment is to find out if aerodynamic parts could increase the speed of the kart. So, for their second phase, the kart has to layer up.
Jay's car gets a few "improvements." With protection to fight against the windbreak and it constantly hitting Chris's chest, let's see if he can improve his time of 49 seconds.
Chris did it! The aerodynamics helped Chris turn easier, and the down-force of the car was a little sturdier. This helped him improve his score by 7/10 of a second!
It's time to Assess and Caress with Donald Osborne! We're here to see which of these three cars have appreciated the most: the 1947 Cisitalia 202 GT, the 1956 Continental Mark II, or the 1968 Toyota 2000GT.
After all the calculations are set, it stands that the Toyota GT has appreciated the most value, having doubled its value, twice!
Jay checks out the Art Center College of Design: he pops into a classroom and asks the students to sketch out a car for him. He's impressed with what they do with such little time given.
With the rough sketch made, the next step was computer design, followed by a rough physical cut. Jay is really impressed with "The Mestan," as the two students responsible for the design are calling it. Jay would like 3 by next week!
