Billionaire George Soros has been targeted by Donald Trump supporters who accuse the investor and philanthropist of funding days-long protests across the country that followed Trump's election, USA Today reported on Thursday.

Trump's supporters have begun to organize their own protests online against the Democratic donor, who they claim had a large role in spurring civil unrest in the wake of the Republican's win.

Soros' Open Society Foundations has categorically denied claims that the philanthropist had any involvement in the protests, but added that considering the size and frequency of the protests, it's possible that some groups the foundation supports were involved.

This week, the Open Society Foundations announced it would give $10 million to groups fighting hate crimes, citing harsh and discriminatory rhetoric and policy proposals as leading factors in the decision to donate.
