Brazil minister defends land sales to foreigners, with limits

SAO PAULO, May 31 (Reuters) - Brazil's Agriculture Minister Blairo Maggi on Wednesday said the government should give equal treatment to local and foreign investors looking to buy land in the country.

Speaking in a seminar in São Paulo, Maggi, however, said limits should apply, particularly regarding land for grain cultivation, as he fears some areas could be left without crops in periods of low soy and corn prices. (Reporting by Marcelo Teixeira; Editing by Jonathan Oatis)
